About Math with Code

Math with Code was first conceived in the spring of 2016. We were tasked with designing a computer science (CS) pathway and found it difficult for students to fit a CS class into their crowded schedules. One of our district administrators found out about hybrid Math/CS courses that were designed by University of California Curriculum Integration (UCCI). We immediately adopted their Geometry and Algebra 2 courses, then worked with a team to develop an Algebra 1 course to complete the core high school sequence. As we began to present these ideas at conferences and do professional development for UCCI, we realized we wanted to put together a website to act as a central location for like-minded teachers to locate and share resources. This goal was realized in the summer of 2019. We will continually add to these resources and grow the Math with Code community. We also take requests!

Jeramie Oliveira

Jeramie has 19 years teaching experience.  He currently teaches all three levels of MathWithCode: Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 as well as Video Game Design and credit recovery intervention.  His teaching goal is to help students overcome their math phobias. His coding enthusiasm is sparked by seeing how to make math work on a conceptual level and then bringing that to life.
